Dr. Nitza Davidovich serves in teaching and administrative positions at the Ariel University. She is currently the Director of Academic Development & Evaluation. Her areas of research interest include academic curriculum development, development of academic instruction, Holocaust awareness and Jewish identity, student exchange programs with Germany and Poland, preservation of the heritage of Jewish sects, and moral education.

Biography

Earned her PhD in 2004 at the Department of Education, Bar Ilan University, writing on the developmental trends of regional colleges in Israel and their impact on the country’s higher education system, under the guidance of Prof. Yaakov Iram and Prof.Ozer Schild. She has held various administrative and teaching positions at the Ariel University since its establishment as the Academic College of Judea and Samaria in 1987. After heading the teacher seminar department, she headed the academic preparatory program from 1988 to 1994. From 1994 to 1999, she served as the director of the academic division and the academic secretary of the College, and since 2000 has headed the Academic Development and Assessment Unit. She was actively involved in the efforts to gain official recognition of the institution as a university.

Dr. Davidovitch has studied and published extensively on numerous topics including higher education, academic teaching, and quality evaluations in higher education and is active in the development of unique assessment studies and research sources. She is a member of the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals and has organized and led several joint research projects with universities outside Israel.
Her main activities at Ariel University include director of the academic evaluation program under the auspices of the Israeli Commission of Higher Education; development of academic collaboration in and outside Israel; curricular development; editor of the University’s newsletter Ba’Akademia. She founded and leads alumni activities, develops academic programs for special-needs populations.
In the field of academic instruction and development, she is active in faculty empowerment, development of faculty teaching workshops, development of distant learning resources, promotion of pedagogically grounded technologies, development of unique courses, members of an academic team on the development of assessment and evaluation methods in higher education, and has assisted in the publication of numerous textbooks
