English: A U.S. Navy North American RA-5C Vigilante from Reconnaissance Heavy Attack Squadron 9 (RVAH-9) "Hoot Owls" is readied for launching from the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) in the South China Sea during "Operation Jackstay", March 1966. RVAH-9 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) aboard the Ranger for a deployment to Vietnam from 10 December 1965 to 25 August 1966. Note that the Vigilantes of RVAH-9 kept the tail code "AC" of CVW-3 and did not adopt the tail code "NK" of CVW-14. |
